2023 transport bonus

More details on when and how to follow soon

In a recent decision, the Italian government approved a renewal of last year’s transport bonus. The implementation technicalities are still being discussed.

With the so-called Decreto Carburante (DL no. 5 of 14 January 2023), the government has taken the initiative to grant yet another contribution towards commuters’ travel expenses. The only detail known so far is that in 2023, only passengers with a maximum annual income of EUR 20,000 will be eligible. Last year, the limit was set at EUR 35,000.

In 2022, over 17,000 Südtirol Pass and other subscription ticket holders received up to EUR 60 in credit. This year, the number of recipients is expected to be far lower.

Over the course of the next few weeks, the Transport Ministry in Rome will issue a decree laying out when and how the contribution will be paid out. Once the details are published, we will look into how to best implement the process and determine whether and how to adjust the existing application process in order to allow passengers to redeem the bonus within the südtirolmobil data systems.

Stay tuned! We will keep you informed and do our utmost to ensure that the transport bonus can be applied to Südtirol Pass subscriptions and that the process is as user-friendly as possible.
