A train in Val Pusteria/Pustertal Valley

Pusteria/Pustertal valley: no trains next Saturday and Sunday

Brennero/Brenner railway line: minor delays in the near future

On Saturday 14 May and Sunday 15 May 2022, all rail traffic between Fortezza/Franzensfeste and San Candido/Innichen will be suspended, meaning that there will be no train services in the Pusteria/Pustertal valley. From 9 to 12 on Sunday morning, services between San Candido/Innichen and Sillian (A) will also be suspended.

The tracks will remain closed for a series of comprehensive infrastructure works carried out by the rail network operator RFI: regular inspection and maintenance operations along the railroad line on the one hand plus preparations for works on the Valdaora/Olang railway bridge, which is scheduled to be completed next autumn, on the other hand. Additional work will take place at the railway junction points outside the stations of Brunico/Bruneck and Villabassa/Niederdorf, after a series of interruptions and delays to rail traffic in the Pusteria/Pustertal valley in recent months due to technical defects in the switches, among other things.

Rail replacement services: Throughout all of Saturday and Sunday, replacement buses will leave on an hourly basis:

  • at 10 minutes past the hour from San Candido/Innichen (e.g. 12:10)
  • and at 10 minutes to the hour from Fortezza/Franzensfeste (e.g. 12:50).

They will call at most stations – with the following exceptions:

  • In Brunico/Bruneck Nord (hospital), the replacement buses will stop at Via Andreas Hofer/Andreas-Hofer-Straße,
  • in Perca/Percha at Municipio/Rathaus (town hall)
  • and in Villabassa/Niederdorf at Piazza Von Kurz/Von-Kurz-Platz.

Since the duration of each journey will depend on traffic, please allow for longer travel times!

From 9 to 12 on Sunday morning, replacement services will also run between San Candido/Innichen and Sillian (A) on an hourly basis.

Track works at Colle Isarco/Gossensass

Due to track works between Brennero/Brenner and Colle Isarco/Gossensass, we expect delays of up to 10 minutes to affect trains going to Bolzano/Bozen or Merano/Meran from Monday 16 May until the end of June. Please keep this in mind when planning your journeys and allow for a bit of extra time for your train connections.
