Ticket validation machines: a visual guide
The blue validation machines are for both contactless tickets and magnetic stripe cards. Keep an eye on the display to find out how to check in and validate your ticket, which options are available and what to keep in mind.

Insert your ticket into the machine from above, i.e. using the slot at the top.
Südtirol Pass/Euregio Family Pass (checking in at train stations)
Where would you like to go? Find the code of your destination on the list of all stops and station codes – right next to the ticket validation machine. Then enter the code into the machine.
You have successfully checked in and validated your ticket.

You have already checked in and validated your ticket.
Südtirol Pass/Euregio Family Pass
Your ticket has not yet been activated. Activate it:
- by calling our help desk at +39 0471 220 880
- by visiting any südtirolmobil ticket office
- or through your online user account.
Pre-paid Südtirol Pass and pre-paid Euregio Family Pass
Credit balance warning: Your remaining credit is less than 10 EUR. You can go ahead with this journey, but please top up your pass as soon as possible.
Südtirol Pass abo+ and Südtirol Pass 65+
You have ordered a duplicate and not yet paid.
Pre-paid Südtirol Pass and pre-paid Euregio Family Pass
You have run out of credit. You will not be able to pay for your journey using this ticket.
If your credit goes below 0 EUR, it might take some time for the top-up to be credited and your ticket to be active again. A negative balance means that you will not be able to top up your ticket on the bus.
Post-paid Südtirol Pass and Euregio Family Pass
Your latest invoice has not been paid yet. Once the amount due has been paid, you will be able to use your ticket again.
Südtirol Pass and Euregio Family Pass
If you’ve already checked in and hold your ticket in front of the sensor a second time, depending on the means of transport a number of options are available:
- check in again to transport a dog
- check in again to transport a bike
- cancel a journey: If you’re at a train station, you can cancel any previous check-in within 45 minutes by selecting the symbol showing a red, crossed-out ticket.
- exit the check-in without validating your ticket a second time
All tickets
Your ticket is faulty: It cannot be read and validated.
If your ticket is visibly damaged, you will not be able to use it again. Please purchase a new ticket.
If your ticket is not visibly damaged:
- single-fare tickets: You will need to buy a regular ticket before the start of your journey. The credit remaining on the faulty ticket will be refunded at any südtirolmobil ticket counter.
- Südtirol Pass abo+, Südtirol Pass 65+, Südtirol Pass free: You can go ahead with this journey, but please order a replacement ticket without delay.
- Mobilcards, Südtirol Guest Pass: You can still use your ticket on that day, but please ask for a replacement at any südtirolmobil ticket counter, tourist office or your accommodation facility.

Destination code not recognised. Please check the code of your destination and enter it again correctly.
Some functions of the ticket validation machine are unavailable due to a defect: This machine can only read tickets with a magnetic stripe.
